One of the main reasons the Young Professionals (YP) group exists is to support and promote the research of early-career scientists. That is why YP recently attended two key conferences held in Pilsen: the International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika) (https://www.diagnostika.zcu.cz) and the International Conference on Applied Electronics (AE) https://www.appel.zcu.cz/). We are proud to support these events by sponsoring the Best Student Paper Award and helping young researchers along their journey by recognizing their valuable contributions to electrical engineering.
Diagnostika ’26
Diagnostika is a biennial conference with a tradition spanning over 30 years. It focuses not only on diagnostics, but also on overall high-voltage engineering, and is organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
This year, the organizers arranged two sessions dedicated specifically to Young Professionals. The Chair of IEEE CS YP, Jaroslav Hornak, had the privilege of presenting the award to two young researchers. Their colleagues accepted the awards on their behalf. In the evening, the YP meeting was organized in the nearby Slavia Pub.

- Peter Nemergut (Technical University of Košice, Slovakia) – A Cost-Effective Laboratory Fixture for Measuring Flatness and Warpage in Power Electronics Modules
AE 2026
AE is a well-established annual international event focusing on applied research and practical applications of electronic circuits and systems. Organized continuously since 1996 by the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic, it provides an active forum for researchers, engineers, and industry practitioners to exchange ideas and present recent advances.
During the social event, the Best Student Paper Award was presented to the winning student by YP Vice-Chair Ondřej Michal.
